As Jews faced with a difficult struggle against sexual temptations, we need to have strategies because these temptations are very strong. Here are some strategies that I've found very helpful:
1) Keep an index card or two in your wallet which lists your strategies, and review it at least twice a day.
2) One list on this index card should be why you want to be in control of this area: list motivating sources in Jewish law, ways that it will improve your self esteme, increase your energy level, save you time, etc.
3) Another list should be situations that have made you more vulnerable to failure in the past. Be serious about learning from your mistakes, and avoid these situations. A very important lesson is to try and never be alone with the internet.
4) Another tip is to have a small calendar in your wallet, and to mark off the day that you decided to be in control. You can write prizes onto the calendar as motivation to reach milestones of staying clean.
5) Another great idea is to carry around a small notepad, and to start each day by writing the new day's date on the top of a page in the notepad, and this will be your notepad of temptations that you overcame. When you have an urge to break your streak, take out your notepad, and write down the time and what you wanted to do. Then at the end of the day you can feel proud of yourself as you review your victories, and if there were failures, always learn from them, and don't get down about it. The most important thing is to never give up. You can throw away the pages of your notepad as the day passes, but you can put a quick number or two into your calendar to track your progress.
